E-commerce site Groupon pulls out of Greece

Global e-commerce site Groupon announced on Monday it was ceasing activity in Greece.

The business, which operates by offering buyers discounts through purchased coupons, said it took the decision after making a detailed study of the Greek market.

The US-based company started operating in Greece around five years ago.

Greece’s uncertain economic and political climate appear to be the driving factors behind the company’s withdrawal from the Greek market.
