Ferry bookings from domestic market back to normal after agreement

Ferry bookings from the domestic market started recovering last Friday and picked up the pace on Monday as the government sealed a preliminary agreement toward a third bailout package with its eurozone peers.

Coastal shippers Blue Star, ANEK and Hellenic Seaways reported a rebound in demand that took last-minute bookings (i.e. those made four to five days before traveling) back up to normal levels.

In the last couple of weeks last-minute domestic bookings had dropped 50 percent from the same period last year, while cancellations had doubled to 20 percent from the usual 10 percent.
