TANKERS Baltic with a number of new orders, so rates are moving up with 100,000-ton cargoes being fixed at W/S 160. – Suezmaxes in the same area still pretty slow. – Med. stable on Aframaxes, with fixtures from W/S 187.5-192.5, while Caribs are still around W/S 160 for 70,000-ton cargo liftings. – Suezmaxes out of W. Africa at W/S 107.5-110. Sun has fixed M/T «Genmar Prometheus» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 16, discharging USAC, at W/S 107.5. – VLCCs stable, with Chevtex having fixed M/T «Tokachi» for 265,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 6, discharging Thailand, at W/S 48, while SK for 270,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 10, discharging S. Korea, has fixed M/T «Formosa P. Chall» at W/S 50. – In the Med., Tamoil for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 1 Libya, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Astro Saturn» at W/S 187.5. – In the Cont., Gunvor has fixed M/T «Nordic Akarita» for 100,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 9 Baltic, discharging UKC at W/S 150. – In Caribs, Koch fixed M/T «Sotra Spirit» for 70,000 tons cargo, loading Nov. 2, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 155. – In W. Africa and on VLCCs, Stasco for 260,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 13, discharging US Gulf. UKC has fixed front tonnage at W/S 60 – W/S 62.5 respectively. DRY CARGO Capers weaker; Panamax freights moving up again. – On Panamaxes in Far East, Deiulemar has fixed M/V «Top Leader,» 73,941 dwt, built 1999, delivery Hong Kong Nov. 5-12 for 13-15 month period at USD 27,300 daily, while Cobelfret has fixed M/V «Vogetrader,» 72,171 dwt, built 1996, delivery Nov. 7-15 Japan, trip via Australia, redelivery Porto Vesme, at USD 42,000 daily. – In Atlantic, Transgrain has fixed M/V «Tian Yu Feng,» built 2001, delivery Argentina beg. November, redelivery Aden-Muscat, at USD 30,500 daily; Daeyang has fixed M/V «Maritime Suaran,» 74,181 dwt, built 2002, delivery Belgium Oct. 25-30, trip via Baltic, redelivery Far East, at USD 35,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, IVS has fixed M/V «Silver An,» 39,000 dwt, built 1986, delivery Beira (Mozambique) Nov. 1-5, trip via S. Africa, redelivery UKC, at USD 16,500 daily. – On coal cargoes, Enel has fixed M/V «Atermon,» for 38,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 5-10 Kalimantan, discharging Genoa & Port Vesme at USD 34 per ton with 15,000-ton load and 10,000 & 4,000 tons discharge.
