Casinos see decline

Turnover at the country?s nine casinos has been hit as a result of the economic crisis.

Total turnover at the casinos of Loutraki, Parnitha, Thessaloniki, Rio, Rhodes, Xanthi, Halkidiki, Syros and Corfu posted an 18.4 percent decline in the January-September period this year from the same period in 2010, amounting to 319.5 million euros.

Total bets recorded a 13.2 percent drop compared to the first nine months of last year, amounting to 1.68 billion.

The total number of punters visiting casinos in the year to September dropped by 6.1 percent to 2,126,868.

Loutraki casino maintains the lead, with more bets and a greater turnover than its peers.
