Price ceiling imposed on fuel

The Development and Competitiveness Ministry is imposing a ceiling on the price of fuel as of Saturday owing to the problems created in the market from the ongoing strike of customs workers, set to last until Sunday.

The ceiling imposed amounts to the average prices recorded in each prefecture on Thursday, which means that in Attica the ceiling stands at 1.643 euros per liter.

This is seven cents lower than the average price recorded on Friday, when cars lined up outside gas stations to get a full tank of gasoline.

However late on Friday an Athens court ruled illegal the next strike that customs employees had been planning to start from Monday.
