Merger of Alpha with Eurobank proceeding

The merger of the second- and third-largest Greek banks, Alpha and Eurobank EFG, is proceeding apace, with the blessings for the marriage expected to be given at the two lenders? general meetings on November 15.

Alpha?s and Eurobank EFG?s task forces are already working to ensure the smooth operation of the new lender that will emerge after the completion of the legal process.

Shareholders will be asked to approve the merger as well as all the procedures that it will entail on the basis of the capital strengthening plan that includes a share capital increase by 1.25 billion euros.

The process for the capital increase will begin in January 2012.
