Tourism kept increasing in September

Corfu, as well as most other holiday destinations in Greece, continued to show an increase in arrivals in September, vindicating forecasts of an increase in tourism that will exceed 10 percent for the whole of the year.

Sidari (pictured) is a popular destination on the Ionian island and just one reason why its international airport posted a 12 percent rise in tourism arrivals last month compared to September 2010.

Arrivals at Rhodes Airport rose by 14.09 percent, Hania saw a 12.85 percent increase, Iraklio rose by 9.55 percent and Thessaloniki added 13.06 percent.

The five airports had more than 1 million arrivals last month, adding over 100,000 from September 2010, according to preliminary figures.
