Greece ranks last in the EU in economic freedom
Greece ranks last in the economic freedom chart among the European Union states, according to the study published by the Center for Liberal Studies (KEFiM) in collaboration with the Canadian Fraser Institute.
It is also 16th from bottom in the world in terms of the size of the state, and in the penultimate position in the EU in terms of citizens’ real disposable income.
However, compared to last year, it has registered a marginal rise by two spots, occupying the 70th place among 165 countries based on the economic freedom index. According to its overall performance, Greece is placed between Mongolia and Kenya.
The fact that Greece ranks last among all EU member states, together with Poland, is particularly concerning, while back in 2000 it was 33 places higher in the world, at 37th.
