ATHEX: Weekly losses contained on Friday
The benchmark of the Greek stock market had to drop close to the 1,400-point mark on Thursday to rebound on Friday, and it did so quite convincingly. This recovery diminished the weekly losses of the main index that had stayed in the red throughout the week to Thursday, though this advance was with the lowest turnover of the last four sessions, partly due to the subdued performance of banks.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,419.24 points, adding 0.88% to Thursday’s 1,406.91 points. On a weekly basis it declined 1.66%.
The large-cap FTSE-25 index expanded 0.94%, ending at 3,441.14 points and the banks index improved 0.50%.
ElvalHalcor jumped 3.89%, OPAP grew 2.37%, Public Power Corporation fetched 2.24%, Jumbo moved up 2.18% and Cenergy Holdings collected 1.81%, while Aegean Airlines conceded 0.47%.
In total 63 stocks registered gains, 33 suffered losses and 25 remained unchanged.
Turnover amounted to 79.3 million euros, down from Thursday’s €129.6 million.
In Nicosia, the general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange decreased 0.74% to close at 184.10 points.
