Global group invests in private school

Inspired Education Group, one of the world’s largest private education groups, with 115 schools in 24 countries and 90,000 students, has acquired a stake in the Moraitis School, while it is also reportedly in discussions with Geitonas Education schools.

The move is the first major foreign investment in a Greek private school, responding to the high demand for quality educational services in Greece amid an environment of a growing economy and the challenges faced by public schools.

The investment in the Moraitis School involves the acquisition of a stake in the management company of the schools.

The current ownership, which also oversees the school, remains a shareholder and maintains management. Simultaneously, the company’s other properties and the iconic Moraitis School in Palaio Psychiko pass 100% to the existing owners; the families of the three major shareholders – Chrysanthi Moraitis-Kartalis, Antonios Kartalis, and Georgios Kartalis. The Greek shareholders still own other Moraitis School group entities, including the study and sports groups.

Kathimerini has learned that Inspired Education Group, which was founded and is managed by the British-Lebanese entrepreneur and investment banker Nadim M Nsouli, is in talks to enter the share capital also of Geitonas schools.

“As well as being a leading private school in Athens, Moraitis’ philosophy and values are perfectly aligned with Inspired’s progressive educational ethos, combining the best of traditional learning with innovative pedagogy,” Nsouli stated.

Sources have reported to Kathimerini that as far as the Moraitis School is concerned, extensive renovations of the school’s infrastructure will be carried out in the medium term, while in the longer term the shareholders will evaluate the prospect of developing a new campus in new infrastructure capable of accommodating an additional number of students.

Synergies are anticipated to be achieved in the implementation of new educational programs, programs for the exchange of students and know-how, and in the utilization of educational talent, given the new shareholder’s very large international footprint in leading private schools worldwide.
