Land registry to use AI tool for decision-making

The Ministry of Digital Transformation on Wednesday unveiled an artificial intelligence tool that will be used in the land registry’s executive decision-making process.

The land registry is the first public sector department to incorporate AI into its operations. The new tool, which is currently being used on a trial basis, speeds up the assessment of legal contracts by reading, summarizing and checking them against legal regulations. It ensures that all necessary information is included before drafting findings for approval or rejection by a human employee.

The ministry said the technology is expected to cut assessment time by a third and reduce costs, although final decisions will still be made by a line manager.

“The Land Registry has been completed and with this new technology has become a model public institution,” Digital Transformation Minister Dimitris Papastergiou said Wednesday.
