ATHEX: Mixed day ends with small gains
In a session more reminiscent of early September, stocks at the Greek bourse had a mixed day on Monday, with a slight majority ending up in the red while the benchmark and the other notable indexes reported growth at the start of a week that is expected to fetch another credit rating upgrade for Greece, this time by Standard & Poor’s.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,173.76 points, adding 0.35% to Friday’s 1,169.66 points. The large-cap FTSE-25 index expanded 0.46% to end at 2,867.07 points, and mid-caps outperformed rising 1.26%.
The banks index improved 1.16%, as Eurobank grabbed 1.51%, Piraeus augmented 1.24%, Alpha fetched 1.04% and National earned 0.78%.
Lamda Development collected 3.34% and OTE telecom increased 2.64%, while Terna Energy parted with 3.48% and Sarantis gave up 3.16%.
In total 45 stocks secured gains, 47 posted losses and 29 remained unchanged.
Turnover amounted to 67.1 million euros, down from last Friday’s €73.3 million.
In Nicosia, the general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange decreased 0.88% to close at 127.57 points.
