This winter looks more secure in terms of energy supply
Greece is much better protected against a possible gas supply disruption than last winter, according to the “National Risk Assessment Study on the Security of Natural Gas Supply,” prepared by the Regulatory Authority for Waste, Energy and Water (RAAEY).
The good news is that the cost of emergency measures to ensure the adequacy of the system in the event of a disruption will be around 200 million euros less than last year.
That is because it was not deemed necessary to store strategic natural gas reserves in neighboring countries, as was the case last year, a measure that cost about €160 million, as well as the re-leasing of a floating unit at Revithoussa, which in 2022 cost €40 million.
