The Athens Stock Exchange posted minimal gains, with the positive news of the upgrading of Greece’s debt by Scope Ratings balanced by the negative climate in other European markets.

The ASE general index ended 0.09% higher at 1,320.65 points, trading narrowly throughout the session. Turnover was €79 million.

Blue chips declined 0.07%, mid-caps gained 0.23% and banks ended 0.13% lower.

Piraus Bank (+2.29%) outperformed all blue chips. Gains above 1% were posted by cosmetics company Sarantis, Aegean Airlines, Helleniq Energy and Motor Oil. Alpha Bank, construction group GEK Terna, industrial group Mytilineos, metals group ELVALHalcor and Cenergy lost more than 1%.

Analysts consider that Scope’s credit upgrade will be followed by other ratings agencies.
