Tech changes in shipping are happening too fast
Though education in technology is a must, “education should not underestimate and cannot replace the importance of traditional values and principles,” declared Panos Kourkountis, keynote speaker at last week’s Greener Shipping Summit in Athens, themed “New Technologies and Education.”
The forum, organized by Newsfront/Naftiliaki newspaper under the auspices of Greece’s Marine Technical Managers Association (Martecma), also heard Kourkountis urge that the shipping industry’s education system be “more flexible and modernized.”
He warned that the pace of technological changes allows no time for the building of experience.
