Business turnover soars in Q3
Price hikes in products and services, as well as the large growth of tourism, boosted business turnover to record highs during the third quarter of this year. In fact, turnover for all businesses both on the three- and nine-month level was quite higher compared to 2019, too – the last year before the pandemic.
According to data the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announced on Wednesday, the turnover for all businesses and economic activities in the third quarter of 2022 amounted to 133.26 billion euros, marking an increase of 42.8% compared to the third quarter of 2021, which had come to €93.34 billion.
In the third quarter of 2020, the turnover of all businesses came to €74.71 billion, a decrease entirely attributed to the restrictions and effects of the pandemic, while in the third quarter of 2019, turnover had reached €87.80 billion.
In other words, this year business turnover during the July-September period was 51.77% higher than that of the corresponding period three years ago.
The strong turnover of the manufacturing sector contributed to the large increase in turnover this year, due to the restart of economic activity and the price hikes.
