Payment plan for social security dues
Thousands of social security debtors, mainly with arrears up to 10,000 euros, will benefit from the arrangement of their contribution dues through the regulation for 24 tranches.
This primarily concerns new, small debtors, who did not join the last arrangement of 72 installments, either because at the time they were unable to cope with their increased obligations, or because they hoped there would be a new, better arrangement.
It also concerns debtors who go in and out of arrangements as their financial strength fluctuates. Single Social Security Entity (EFKA) executives estimate that at least 200,000 debtors can be included in the arrangement, even those who owe 500 or 1,000 euros, which, after all, have increased significantly in the last six months according to official data.
For them, as well as for the 381,748 debtors who had active arrangements for a total amount of €4.3 billion at the end of June 2022, their criminal prosecution is conditionally suspended, for as long as the regulation is being served. This way the repeated appearance of debtors compliant with the payment plan and of EFKA employees in court (to confirm that the arrangement is observed) can be avoided.
