Turkey’s energy importer BOTAS adjusts price calculation for industrial users
Turkey’s energy importer BOTAS said on Friday that it had changed the calculation method for the natural gas used at industrial sites, moving to market based pricing and delivering what one industry source said was a “veiled price hike” for October.
BOTAS, which updates prices monthly, did not adjust the price for natural gas used in households and in the production of electricity. Changes would lead to a price hike between 4.9% and 37%.
The industry source, who requested anonymity, said the changes to the calculation would lead to a price increase of between 4.9% and 37% for large industrial users.
BOTAS was not immediately available for comment on the change.
