Greeks cut down on coffee shop spending

Greeks seem to be cutting down on one of their most beloved habits, that of enjoying a coffee at an outdoor cafe.

Professionals in this market who spoke to Kathimerini on the occasion of International Coffee Day on October 1, said that although there has been a large increase in consumption compared to 2021, comparisons to the last pre-pandemic year (2019) show that the food service sector remains lower in consumption terms.

“Although 2022 has been the first year without a lockdown, with the market significantly boosted by tourism, we are still falling short of pre-pandemic levels,” they emphasize.
