European cities want to limit tourist traffic

Post-pandemic, many European cities are mulling limiting the number of tourist visitors. The pre-pandemic boom brought income but it also sent rents soaring, due to the “Airbnb effect.” Strategies differ: Barcelona wants to spread tourists around the city in order to avoid tourist enclaves, while Venice prefers having them confined to a few places to leave the locals alone.
