Tindersticks | Athens | July 13
British alternative rock band Tindersticks, which emerged in the early 1990s and soon gained a sizable following in Greece that has remained loyal to this day, will be performing in the Greek capital as part of the Athens Festival on July 13. The career-spanning set at the Herod Atticus Theater will showcase what is known as the “Tindersticks sound,” a combination of elaborate arrangements, combining electric guitars, drums and bass with acoustic instruments such as violin, contrabass, flute, glockenspiel, trumpets and clarinet, retro aesthetics, hints of soul and jazz, and romantic sensibilities. The show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets start from 35 euros and can be booked on the festival's website, www.greekfestival.gr. For more information, call 210.928.2900.
