Refugee Food Festival | Athens | June 18-22
Athens Insider magazine, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and Food Sweet Food present the first Athens edition of the Refugee Food Festival, from Sunday, June 18, to Thursday, June 22. After a phenomenal success in Paris in 2016, 13 European cities have joined in this year, with Athens represented by five restaurants that will be highlighting the cuisines of the refugee chefs they will be hosting. On Sunday, Mahboubeh Tavakoli will be cooking Iranian food at Yi in Glyfada on the southern coast.
On Monday, Barshank Haj Younes will team up with the chefs at Seychelles in Kerameikos for a menu of Syrian and Kurdish dishes, while on Tuesday, Hassan Hassan will present the cooking of his homeland, Somalia, at Vassilenas, behind the Hilton Hotel. Syria's Abdulrahman Al Hallak will be in the kitchen at 7 Food Sins in Plaka on Wednesday and Afghan cook Reza Golami will be taking over IT in Kolonaki on Thursday.
