Weird Wave | Athens | May 25-31
The second retrospective of what has been dubbed “weird wave” cinema is taking place at the open-air Panathinea movie theater in Ambelokipi from Thursday, May 25, to Wednesday, May 31, featuring the work of up-and-coming filmmakers as well as selections by greats such as Alejandro Jodorowsky, Luis Puenzo and Jean-Luc Godard. The event will open with two avant-premiere screenings, at 8.30 and 11 p.m., of the Italian sci-fi fantasy “They Call Me Jeeg” by Gabriele Mainetti, and will comprise 12 more films from Europe, Latin America and Africa.
