Mykonos Vase | Mykonos | To September 11
The Mykonos Municipal Art Gallery is hosting “The Fall of Troy: The Mykonos Vase and the Heroes of Eleutherna.” The exhibition focuses on a funeral vase dating to approximately 670 BC, which was discovered in a house on the Cycladic island in 1961 and came to be known as the Mykonos Vase. The artifact is on display at the island’s Archaeological Museum. The display, which runs through September 11, is a curtain-raiser for “Homer in the Aegean,” an exhibition celebrating the splendid artifact and the discovery of stone shield-bearing warriors in Eleutherna in Crete, which is scheduled to take place next year. On July 22, the open-air Cine Manto cinema in Mykonos town will host an evening of readings and lectures, as well as a film, dedicated to Homer. The event starts at 9.30 p.m. and admission is free of charge. For more information visit www.cinemanto.gr.
