The Camerata Orchestra performs the first global revival of Niccolo Antonio Zingarelli’s opera “Romeo and Juliet” in concert form at the Athens Concert Hall on Monday, May 9. Following the Athens staging, the production will travel to the Salzburg Whitsun Festival, where the Greek ensemble will be making its debut appearance. The ensemble is led by conductor George Petrou. Considered the Italian composer’s finest work, the opera was first performed at Milan’s La Scala in 1796. The cast is led by Franco Fagioli (Romeo), Juliet (Ann Hallenberg), Bogdan Mihai (Everardo), Xavier Sabata (Gilberto), Irini Karagianni (Matilde) and Juan Sancho (Tebaldo). Starts at 8.30 p.m. and admission ranges from 15 to 35 euros (10 reduced).
