Hope (1769-1831), the scion of a wealthy British banking family, visited Greece and Turkey in the last quarter of the 18th century. The exhibition features his efforts to portray Ottoman Istanbul through topographic views and folding panoramas as well as scenes from daily life ranging from coffee shops to market places, costumes and palaces.
