Israel Philharmonic Orchestra | Athens | October 18-19
The Athens Concert Hall is hosting the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra led by renowned maestro Zubin Mehta on Sunday, October 18, and Monday, October 19. On October 18 the ensemble will perform Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Op. 84, his Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 61, and Symphony No 3 in E flat major, Op. 55, “Eroica,” with violin soloist Leonidas Kavakos. The following evening, the program includes Arnold Schoenberg’s Chamber Symphony No 1 in E major, Op. 9, Gustav Mahler’s “Kindertotenlieder” and Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No 9 in E minor, “From the New World,” Op. 95, B. 178. Ticket prices range from 21 to 75 euros. Both concerts start at 8.30 p.m.
