Santiago Calatrava | Athens | September 24-October 25
The Benaki Museum in Athens presents an exhibition titled “Santiago Calatrava: The Renaissance of the Church of St Nicholas at Ground Zero.” The show traces the Spanish architect’s project to replace New York’s Greek Orthodox church of St Nicholas, which was destroyed on September 11, 2001, with a new church at Ground Zero. The new church was designed to be a place open to everyone, regardless of religion. The show, which includes sketches, drawings, plans and photographs, opens on Thursday, September 24, and runs to October 25. Opening hours are Thursdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
