Stars team up for charity

Mario Frangoulis and Lara Fabian gave their first concert together in Greece in May. They also promised to join forces again soon and have kept their word: On September 24, crossover tenor Frangoulis will unite with the internationally acclaimed vocalist Fabian, this time at the Herod Atticus Theater. The concert’s proceeds will go toward the World Centers of Compassion For Children International, an organization founded in 1997 by Betty Williams (a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1976 along with Mairead Corrigan) for which Frangoulis is a Goodwill Ambassador. WCCCI tries to «rescue, nurture and empower children living in high-risk regions.» It uses the so-called «Cities of Peace,» in safe areas, thus the Herod Atticus concert’s proceeds will go to the first City of Peace – Basilicata in southern Italy. Frangoulis and Fabian will perform songs about peace and love written by artists including John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Patti Smith and others. Tickets can be purchased at the Greek Festival box office (see above).
