Harpist Kirjuhel in Greece

Dwelling in a musical world of his own that has been attracting a growing cult following over recent years, the French harpist Kirjuhel, who has enchanted local fans with several concerts here in recent years, will return to Greece for three shows around the country. The harpist, who will use jazz and flamenco rhythms as the basis of his musical searchings in his upcoming shows, will launch his latest visit with one show at Volos’s Palaia Ilektriki this Saturday. He will follow up this show with another at Larissa’s Municipal Theater next week, on April 17, and his third and final date will be at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory in Athens on April 20. The usually reserved artist has been kept active as of late with a 40-date tour of France, backed by a new album, «Concert.» His upcoming appearances here will be based on the new album’s material. A pioneering harpist, Kirjuhel has, since emerging over three decades ago, delved in the possibilities of the Celtic harp as a solo instrument as well as one for free improvisation. Since first emerging as a musician back in the late 1960s, Kirjuhel has taken his prolific body of music around Europe as well as parts of Africa. Monster’s Ball
