Upcoming events for booklovers

«The Ionian Islands and Solomos: Aspects of a Complex Relationship» is the latest book by Evripidis Garantoudis. Kastaniotis is launching the book tomorrow, March 28, at 8 p.m., at their culture center at 104 Themistocleous. Academic and literary critic Nasos Vagenas and academic and author Christina Dounias will speak. – A new edition of Michalis Karagatsis’s popular novel «The Great Chimera» is a welcome event in itself, but Estia Publishers have more in store for the writer’s fans: the first publication of his work «Roaming the World.» Both books will be presented at the Benaki Museum on April 1 at 8 p.m. by speakers Mairi Mike, Nikos Xydakis and Anteia Frantzi. Director Tassos Bantis will read excerpts. – This Monday, the Wordplay series continues at the National Book Center (EKEBI). Alexandra Zervou, professor of children’s literature at Athens University, and Pantelis Zouras of Akritas Publishers, will discuss Greek children’s books. EKEBI, 4 Athanasiou Diakou, Acropolis Metro station, 8 p.m. – Independent deputy Stefanos Manos will present «Return to Athens: The Urbanization, Culture and Politics of the Greek Capital» (Estia), by Giorgos Stylianos N.-Prevelakis at the French Institute of Athens on April 3 at 7.30 p.m. Perhaps his career’s earlier days, during which he wrote music for theater and dance, helped fashion Aubry’s discipline for the essentials of composition – or, what is needed and what is not. He has also written music for films, 1991’s «La Revolte des Enfants» and «Killer Kid» three years later.
