Upcoming book events

Book lovers are invited to contribute to funds being raised for people affected by the tsunami that struck southeast Asia on Boxing Day, 2004. The National Book Center (EKEBI) and the Athens Booksellers League (SEBA) have placed collection boxes in 50 Athenian bookshops and cultural centers. The collection started Monday and will continue to February 12. The money will be turned over to Deputy Culture Minister Petros Tatoulis who will pass it on to the United Nations. Book Fair The Thessaloniki Book Fair website is up and running; www.thesalonikibookfair.com gives comprehensive information about the fair, which will be held May 26-29 at Helexpo, Thessaloniki. Launches Kastaniotis launches Dimitris Konstantaras’s latest book, «Letters to Paradise» (7.30 p.m., Feb. 7, Katia Dandoulaki Theater, 61A Aghiou Meletiou & Patission), with Deputy Culture Minister Petros Tatoulis presenting the book, Stefanos Korkolis on piano and Dandoulaki and Costas Karras reading excerpts (tel 210.864.0414). Metaixmio presents Costas Logaras’s «Come Whenever You Want» at 8 p.m., February 8, at the Stoa tou Vivliou book arcade (5 Pesmazoglou & Stadiou, tel 210.325.3989), Speakers are writer Petros Tsatsopoulos and journalist Maria Houkli. Stelios Mainas will read and Thanos Mikroutsikos will play piano. Dylan A party at the Stoa tou Vivliou book arcade, dedicated to Bob Dylan and rock music on the occasion of the publication of the singer’s autobiography, «My Life,» is to be held by his Greek publisher Metaixmio, along with Sonik magazine, Diesi 101.3 and Jose Cuervo tequila, with music by Earthbound (5 Pesmazoglou & Stadiou, tel 210.325.3989, on February 7, at 7 p.m.).
