Karamanlis will unveil pension system plans in bid to regain support

Apparently mired in the fallout from the Zachopoulos scandal, the government has decided that its best hope of turning public opinion around is by focusing on its planned reforms and by putting Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis in the front line, sources said yesterday.

Tax equalization is no joking matter
The equalization of consumption taxes is beginning to look like the legendary Bridge of Arta, whose foundations would crumble every night until a human sacrifice was given in offering. Instead of being applied on October 15 as initially scheduled, it was postponed until January 15 due to lack of a clear plan for implementation. Now that the 15th is almost upon us, it has been deferred for another 30 days because the «ministry's services and systems need to be better organized.»
COMMENTARY
Christians? Here in Greece?
Grammenitsa, Eleousa, Kalamia, Kosta-kioi, Rokka, Haikiades. These are all parishes in the prefecture of Arta. Parishes located near the legendary Arta Bridge. Parishes surrounded by orchards. Parishes with thousands of wretched migrants who work in the orchards. In every parish, there's a priest, a vigilant priest, but we do not know their names.
