PAPAGOS ILL?: Prime Minister Field Marshal Alexander Papagos and his wife are leaving for Switzerland at 9.55 a.m. today, aboard a Swissair flight. The prime minister’s absence from Greece will last eight to 10 days, during which Deputy Premier Panayiotis Kanellopoulos will stand in for the field marshal. Government sources again denied all fabrications relating to the reasons for Mr Papagos’s visit abroad, stressing that the trip is being made merely for recreational purposes, and that during his stay in Switzerland the field marshall will undergo a general medical checkup. G. ZORAS: New book: George T. Zoras’s “Georgios of Trapezount and his Efforts Toward a Greek-Turkish Understanding,” 165pp. Published by the School of Byzantine and Modern Greek Literature of the University of Athens. LOCUST INVASION: The Agriculture Ministry has approved 5,000 drachmas for dealing with a possible premature invasion of locusts in the district of Iraklion, Crete. A recommendation has also been made to the Horticultural Council advising the agriculture minister to declare 24 of the country’s prefectures as locust-stricken in the current fiscal year 1954-55.
