Depy Chandris’s sparkling dinner in Gstaad

A bracelet of Cristal de Roche and diamonds, a typical combination of daring and good taste, old and new, that is characteristic of the work of Depy Chandris.

HELBI

It has become a regular occasion for the permanent residents of this Swiss resort, both Greeks and others. On February 27, the charming Depy, wearing a black evening gown, received her guests at the Marco Polo restaurant for a private dinner. The tables were set with velvet damask tablecloths and for place mats there were photographs of Depy's creations with the name of each guest along with a ring for each in a gift box. The annual occasion is not just a social one but also an opportunity for a small exhibition of her most recent work. In a display case that was itself a work of art, designed by Depy, were 50 pieces of jewelry typical of her taste and that of her friends in Gstaad who are fond of sophisticated pieces in modern materials such as galalite, but with an aura of the past. One of the 50 pieces - as many as the number of her guests - is shown here, a bracelet of Cristal de Roche bearing a diamond pin in the style of the 1940s. Also in the collection is a necklace that can be worn as a brooch too, with a diamond bouquet on black galalite. The guest list included Prince and Princess John Radziwill, Princess Eugene, Baronne Marika de Dietrich, Lady Nancy Chopard, Maria Embeirikos, Karolos Fix, John Goulandris, George Tornaritis, Manuela Vardinoyiannis, Depy's sister Christy Chandris, and German Ambassador Holger Eberle.
