Evi Tsekou, the former lover of ex-Culture Ministry general secretary Christos Zachopoulos is set to be questioned today about any financial impropriety at the ministry before the official attempted to commit suicide last December.

Prosecutor Eleni Raikou will quiz Tsekou about allegations she made concerning irregularities in the hiring of employees at the ministry as well as claims of the “peculiar handling” of ministry funds by Zachopoulos.

Tsekou has been accused of trying to blackmail Zachopoulos but during a lengthy deposition on Monday, she told a magistrate that she had filmed herself having sex with the former public official because he had failed to live up to his promise to find her a permanent position at the ministry.

Tsekou asked magistrate Dimitris Economou to call four witnesses who would be able to confirm her take on events.

The technician who was working at Proto Thema when Tsekou visited the newspaper to allegedly show journalists the videotape is likely to be called in for questioning today.
