Protesters staged...

Giorgos Fotiadis/ANA

Residents of Thessaloniki yesterday blocked a central street where an 18-year-old girl was killed a few days ago after being struck by a truck while trying to cross the road. Protesters staged the one-hour protest, the second since the girl’s death, to press authorities to boost road safety. The road has a pedestrian crossing but no traffic lights, which means cars do not always stop when they should, residents say.
