Woman who eloped in August found dead

The badly decomposed body of a young woman found in Agrinion, central Greece, is believed to be that of 25-year-old Efi Fatourou, missing from her native Preveza since August after leaving home to live with her 30-year-old boyfriend.

Police have been questioning the 30-year-old, his brother and another two friends in connection with Fatourou’s disappearance from the northwestern port. One of the four allegedly told police that they had panicked after Fatourou died of a drug overdose and dumped her body.

Fatourou’s scooter and jeans were found in a remote area in Agrinion. The clothes looked as if they had been dumped recently, officers said.

The last sign of life from Fatourou was on August 6 when she sent her mother a text message saying she was OK.

A coroner is examining her remains.
