Students are pictured...

ARIS MESSINIS/AFP

Students are pictured through the hole of a banner reading ‘Life’ at a demonstration in central Athens yesterday. Some 3,000 high school and university students and teachers launched a new wave of anti-government protests to demand more funds for education and a stop to plans to allow private universities to function. In a peaceful demonstration, protesters called for spending on education to be raised to 5 percent of GDP from 3.1 percent currently.
