Council of State greenlights Athens metro Line 4
Line 4 of the Athens metro, which will start in Alsos Veikou in the neighborhood of Galtsi and extend to the suburb of Maroussi, north of the capital, can go ahead after appeals against the project were rejected by the Council of State, it emerged on Wednesday.
The project foresees a U-shaped subway line that will cover 38.2 kilometers and service 35 stops.
The first part of the route – a 12.8-kilometer route servicing 15 stops – will start at Alsos Veikou, running through Kypseli, Evelpidon, Exarchia, Evangelismos, Panepistimioupoli, and Ilissia, before culminating at Goudi.
The Council, the highest administrative court of Greece, is expected to formally announce its decision in the coming days.
There are two consortiums bidding for the project: Aktor-Ansaldo-Hitachi-Rail Italy, and Avax-Ghella-Alstom.
