Overmilking the cow

Experienced livestock farmers say that milking a cow beyond a certain point could yield some very counterproductive results. The Greek government and, to a certain extent, the country’s partners and lenders, seem to ignore these words of wisdom.

You may put as many new taxes as you wish on paper but that does not mean that you will actually collect them. And, more importantly, doing so will deal the final blow to any productive and creative elements left in Greek society. Private parties and businesses could turn to the underground economy if they see that this as the only possible way to survive.

The government does not understand how the real economy actually works and envisions growth through hot spot recruitments. Our lenders have lost all hope regarding any honest reforms and are only interested in making the numbers add up.

Bureaucrats fail to grasp reality and believe that by constantly brandishing the bogeyman of inspections and extra taxes something will give. This is not the case, as we are about to find out.
